Philosophy

The ACYFS program is based within the conceptual framework of a trauma informed psychosocial treatment model. That is, while each individual resident may require treatment for specific psychiatric issues, the individual’s interaction with the environment is also a major focus of treatment, with the ultimate goal of fostering independence and reintegration to the child’s home community. Towards this end, ACYFS also implements a systemic family intervention model through which the CFT collaboratively participates in assisting the child to reach personal goals, whether related to sobriety, school or vocational progress, parenting, or otherwise. ACYFS finds that incorporation of supportive individuals in the child’s treatment can provide the backstop and foundation a child needs to ultimately move to a less restrictive environment.
